1998
Highlights:
Rambo Ramsey successfully defended his title and rewrote the history
books to take out a record fourth Mongrel Masters in a record high
winning score. In a see-sawing tournament which saw five different
players at some time lead the tournament, Ramrod Ramsey showed why he
has become one of the all time greats by coming back from the brink of
defeat to par the eighth and scramble from one shot off the pace to
take the lead and hold onto the lead on the last. Many left the course
thinking, "if only " after being so close yet so far from
donning the Blue Tweed. With no Sledge Ball held this year and
conditions perfect for golf, many pundits were scratching their heads
wondering why the scores were so high.
