1997 Highlights:
Once again the field had to fight a war of attrition with the Sledge
Ball preceding the Masters. The biggest casualty was Wilko Wilkinson
who slipped to 10th after being unable to focus on the ball for the
first four holes. Masters Patron, Peter Lonard, played the first three
holes and made a runner, citing sanity. Rambo Ramsey went head to head
with Harold P Ouvrier, clinching the title with a questionable par on
the eighth to take him to a two stroke lead going to the last, Rambo
held off Harold P, although double bogeying the hole. Rambo's third
win signaled that the tribulations of the previous years were behind
him and that he was back to his unscrupulous best.
