Lonard to Play in '97 Mongrel Masters

Current Australian Masters Champion and Patron of the Mongrel Masters, Peter 'Mossie' Lonard, has been signed up to play in the 1997 Mongrel Masters.

For an undisclosed one figure sum Lonard weakened to the incessant crying and pleading from the big spending tournament organisors to tee up at golf's fifth Major.

It is not the large sums of money that is believed to have lured Lonard to the Masters, but the chance of meeting golfing legend Long Drive Cliffy that sealed the deal.

"I have heard so much about Cliffy. I couldn't pass up the chance to rub shoulders with him."

"Besides, the Blue tweed would go well with my wardrobe and give me something other than my gold jacket to wear out "said Lonard.
