Chairman's Welcome
This year we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the
Mongrel Masters Championship. We can all look back with
pride knowing that the tournament has developed into the
most sought after prize in golf.
Looking back in 1993 we saw history created with the nail
biting play off between Harold P. Ouvrier and Ramrod
Ramsey. I am sure you will agree it was a fitting climax
to a great tournament. Every player exhibited true Mongrel
spirit throughout the day. Sledging was ferocious and
scores on the whole blew out, with a few notable
exceptions.
Our congratulations go to Ramrod for his Mongrel Masters
victory.
To our new members of the tour, Milton Daley, Legend Ensor,
Rowdy Craig and Champion Willey a very warm welcome. We
trust that you will embrace the Mongrel spirit and
continue to be part of the tradition for many years to
come.
This year the Tournament Committee has decided to part
from tradition and hold the 1994 Mongrel Masters on Friday
30 December. It was felt that with New Years Eve falling
on a Saturday, and that this was a Members day at Palm
Beach, that it would be inappropriate to hold the
tournament on this day. We believed it would hinder the
tournaments success. By holding it on the Friday we feel
that the presentation BBQ could be enjoyed by more and
continue through the day. We trust that this does not
prevent any competitor from playing.
Last year many players expressed their concern about the
editorial bias and slander in that years tournament
magazine. Some expressed a desire to contribute articles
for this years issue. Unfortunately no one was forthcoming
with their submissions. Hence I make no apology for the
self indulgence and ego-centricity that this magazine
reeks with. Its just tough shit! Unless you bastards get
off your arses and write , you will continue to be
subjected with my views.
I wish every Mongrel success and good sledging at this
years Mongrel Masters.
