Hells Angel wins Bradman Award.
Golf is a game
that requires total concentration. Many times you would
have seen a pro address his ball and ready himself for the
shot, then due to the flapping of butterfly wings, or the
sneeze of a spectator or even the fart of his caddy, he
would lose his concentration and walk away from the ball.
Imagine how
unsettled you would be if every shot you played was
accompanied with the revving of a motorcycle with no
muffler and a sound level around 80 decibels.
Well those
fortunate enough to play in Aussie Canty's group at last
years Masters did not have to imagine the noise. They
experienced it.
The Match Committee had allowed Aussie to use his bike
buggy during the tournament. So being the Mongrel that he
is, Aussie blasted the shit out of his competitors.
"By the end of the round I had a splitting headache and
wanted to kill the bastard." was Buddha Yeates reaction to
Aussies tactics.
Chad's
reaction was "I was just waiting for Aussie to leave his
bike unattended so I could jump on it and run the prick
over. That would have stuffed him up"
"My teeth
continued to chatter for three days after the event" was
Quaildogs reply to Aussies tactics.
Once again
there was a torrid battle for the Bradman Award. Aussie's
bike was having the desired effect on his fellow
competitors. After a shaky start, Aussie consolidated and
by the fourth hole Buddha Yeates had slipped into last
place. Did this mean we would have a new Bradman for 1993?
At the fifth
Buddha and Aussie were even. Then disaster struck for
Aussie at the par three sixth, when he scored a ten and
Buddha scored a five. It was a five stroke turn around
that Aussie could not come back from. Aussie's last four
holes would take him thirty one strokes, while Buddha
required only twenty one. A late charge by Quailedog with
a total of thirty three for the last four holes was not
enough to wrestle the Bradman Award from its defending
champion, Aussie Canty.
