King, Harold and Noni elected Life Members

King Bonser, Harold Ouvrier and Noni Scanlon were elected Life Members of the Mongrel Masters at the 2001 Champions dinner.

Life Membership of the Mongrel Masters is achieved after ten consecutive years of participation in the tournament. With all three having played in all twelve Mongrel Masters since its inception in 1990, their election was a formality. 

On receiving his award Harold P Ouvrier was brought to tears and gave this heart felt speech to the gallery.

"I am deeply moved to have been bestowed this great honor. I have always believed that this tournament is one of the great institutions and to be enshrined into its inner fabric through such an award is touching. It will prove to be one of the greatest moments of my life, after having won the Mongrel Masters."

Significantly Mongrel Masters Patron, Peter Lonard, was happy to donate the Life Member shirts that were lying in the bottom of his cupboard. They formed part of an ill-fated clothing contract that he once had and are undoubtedly the most hideous golf shirts ever made, making them quite fitting for Life Member shirts of the Mongrel Masters.
