First Mongrel Masters Tournament. Founder, Noni Scanlon, becomes
the Masters first champion and the Tournament’s youngest (26
years, 3 months). Chad G Todd, Harold P Ouvrier, King Bonser &
Paulus Tenney make up the rest of the field to become foundation
members.
1991

Scanlon becomes first Mongrel Masters champion to successfully
defend his title and became Tournament first two time winner.
Blue Tweed Jacket first awarded. First Mongrel Masters Media
Guide published.
1992

Johnson ends Noni Scanlon's reign to win in his Rookie year
1993
First sudden death playoff in tournament history when Ramrod
Ramsey defeated Harold P Ouvrier after they both carded a record
high +8 total. Seeded draw for groupings commences.
1994
First Masters television broadcast on Network 10 Sports Tonight
program
Ramrod Ramsey successfully defends his title
1995
Tournament moves to Long Reef, where only eight holes are
played. Harold P Ouvrier ends Ramrod's reign to take the most
fiercely fought tournament.
1996

Scanlon becomes Tournament first three time Mongrel Masters
Champion.
First Sledge Ball held night before Tournament.
Ramrod Ramsey becomes first player to be disqualified by not
completing his round and trying to drown himself.
1997
Second Sledge Ball held night before Masters and Red Colby
substitutes beer with lemon cordial. Ramrod Ramsey returns to
winners list to record his third Masters title.
Patron, Mossie Lonard played the first two holes of the 1997
Mongrel Masters only to cite sanity and withdraw from the
tournament on the 3rd Tee.
1998
Ramrod Ramsey becomes first player to win four Masters titles,
and defend his title twice with a record equaling highest
winning total of +8
1999
Mongrel Masters Club for Tournament champions initiated and
presentations occur at Champions Dinner the night of the
Tournament. Red Colby becomes oldest player to win title at 36
years 2 days.
2000
mongrelmasters.org registered and the official website for the
Mongrel Masters is launched.
Robo
Robertson in his rookie year is the first to win from the first
group, which is traditionally the group that contains the worst
golfers.
2001
Irishman Lurch Hayden is the first international player to don
the blue tweed.

Scanlon, Harold P Ouvrier and King Bonser inaugurated as the
first Life Members of the Mongrel Masters
2002
Patron Cambo Campbell wins Mongrel Masters using only a 3 wood
and 9 iron. He also takes out rookie of the year honours.
Record field of 22 competitors which included 9 rookies and 5
international players

G Todd and Ramrod Ramsey inaugurated as Life Members of the
Mongrel Masters.
2003
Butch Boyer sinks
ten foot putt on the first play off hole to defeat Red Colby and
Chad Todd, who all finished tied at the completion of their
rounds. This was the first three way play off and only the
second ever play off.
Cambo Campbell was the first Mongrel Masters champion not to
defend his title.
2004
Noni Scanlon wins
his 4th title having carded a record equaling highest winning
score of +8.He became the first player to have won the
tournament in his twenties, thirties and forties.
Noni Scanlon and Red
Colby became the first players to crack the M$2.5million in
career earnings.
Steve Scrowles Crowley is inaugurated as a
Life Member of the Mongrel Masters
2005
Cambo Campbell, 2002
Mongrel Masters Champion and Patron wins the US Open
championship.
Red Colby is inaugurated as a Life Member of
the Mongrel Masters
Paddy Wacker Todd becomes the
youngest ever to play in the Mongrel Masters and the first
second generation prodigy to play. He also won the Rookie of the
year award.
